Category Definitions

Beginner

If you’ve never raced cyclocross before, this category is for you!

Category 1/2

Elite racers, aspiring pros. This is the category for the fast and at least semi-serious (but still here for a good time).

Category 3

Experienced racers that still enjoy the party.

Category 4

Slower than Category 3, but faster than beginner. The fun vibes are strong.

Single Speed

Riders with bikes with only one gear “for fun” they say.

Clydesdale

Cyclists who are 200 pounds or more.

Non-Binary

A dedicated category for non-binary racers.

Juniors

Juniors are separated by race age, i.e. the age they are by December 31st of the current year. Faster juniors are welcome to race in any other category for faster racing.

Masters

Each category has the option for racers to register by age group, starting at 40+.

Kids U6

Little kiddos are welcome to ride on any type of bike on a separate course created just for them. While the race is free of charge, we still require a waiver to be filled out at registration.

FAQ

Registration

What is my racing age?

Your racing age is your age on December 31st of the current year.

What category do I race?

Categories are self seeding. If this is your first time racing cyclocross, sign up for beginner. Otherwise, read the “Category Definitions” and see which category you align with and go from there.

What is a Season Pass?

The Season Pass registers you for one category at all six Cross Revolution races for the price of five.

Can I race more than one race in a day?

Yes! We even offer a discount when you register for a second race. Pre-Reg or Day-Of registration for your second race is $20, and a second Season Pass is only $100!

When can I pre-register for a race?

Pre-reg closes at 10:00am Fridays before race day.

Series

How do I qualify for the CXR series?

Overall series standing will be scored and awarded for all categories except Beginners and Juice Boxers. To be awards eligible you must compete and complete in at least three CXR races.

Series Points are posted on Tuesday by 8:00pm.

All 6 races in the Cross Revolution series count equally toward the overall series standings. Your worst result is dropped and final standings are based on the best 5 race results.

The scoring of the final race of the year is no different as the other races within the series unless there is a tie (see “How are series tiebreakers determined?” below).

Racing all 6 races is not necessarily an advantage over someone that only did 5.

What happens to my series points if I upgrade during the season?

All upgrades must be done before the fourth race. When upgrading you can move 60% of your points.

When are awards held?

Year end award ceremony will be held at the the final race of the year under the BIG Betty White Tent.  It will be held in 2 parts to reward the morning and afternoon races.

Morning Awards Ceremony – Juniors, Category 4 Men, and Clydesdales

This awards ceremony features podium presentations for the eligible category racers in the 9:15, 10:00, and 11 AM race times. All Cat 4 Men, the Clydesdales, & All Junior Boys and Girls in their respective groups will be awarded (No Podium for Beginner Men): After the awards presentation, we will raffle off prizes for which all racers in the morning time slots are eligible.

Estimated Awards Time is 1:00 PM but this is an estimate only and is dependent on our hard working scoring crew.

If you are unavailable for the awards ceremony please send a friend, we will give them the Awards, and hopefully they’ll get to you in the end.

Please note: we are not having a podium presentation for the Beginner Men, Beginner Women, or the Juice Box Derby race. However, those categories are eligible for the prize raffle.

Afternoon Awards Ceremony – All Afternoon Racers

This awards ceremony features podium presentations for the eligible category racers in the 11:45, 12:45, 1:45, & 2:45 race times (No Podium for Beginner Women).

We are going to have the awards ceremony first, then afterwards the raffle. Awards are estimated to start at 4:30pm, and the raffle will be at approximately 5:00pm.

Estimated Awards Time is 4:30 PM but this is an estimate only and is dependent on our hard working scoring crew.

Results

How do I submit a race results challenge/protest?

If you have a question, concern, or correction that you think needs to be made to the race results BEFORE the end of the season please let us know ASAP. Email us with the info below at results@cross-revolution.com:

  1. Your Name
  2. Your Race Category
  3. Your Bib #
  4. Your Chip #
  5. Description of discrepancy as well as any info that will help us find you on the camera such as color of bike, racing kit colors, or even a photo.

For the first five races of the series, racers should review results and file any protests by 3:00pm the Tuesday following each race. Protests submitted for the final race need to be filed within 15 minutes of results being posts so awards can be finalized.

I found an issue with my series results. How do I get it corrected?

If there are two of you in the series points that means there is something different in your chip, bib, last name, first, name, and category. To resolve this issue you must send an email to results@cross-revolution.com and inform the Results Crew to the change that is need and how you are going to use the correct chip, bib, last, first, cat for all the races left in the series.
